Contractions

When spelling words that have been shortened or combined (contractions like tayo’t or tayo’y), do not merge the trailing sound into the previous syllable block. Always give the contraction its own separate block. This matches the natural, relaxed way Filipino words are pronounced.

수랕 이나와
(Surat Inawa)
술랕 라틴
(Sulat Latin)
Note
요틔 ta·yo’t
  • ❌ Not: 타욭
요이 ta·yo’y
  1. Always separate the contracted letter from the main root word block.
  2. Spell out the trailing contraction as its own independent syllable block.
