Glides and Diphthongs

Standard computer and phone Hangeul keyboards block certain old-style Sejonggeul character combinations. To type native Filipino glides and diphthongs easily on a normal keyboard, follow these simple workarounds:

1. Syllable-final W sound

   Type 우 at the end of a syllable.

   • Examples: 아라우 (a·raw); 갈라우 (ga·law).

2. ㅟ (UY) vs. ㅜ이 (WI) sounds

   Use the character ㅟ (UY) for closed blending sounds, but split it into ㅜ이 (WI) when the tongue naturally separates the syllables.

   • Examples: 카쉬 (ka·suy); 비투인 (bi·tu·(w)in)
